Managing Distributed Version Control

Distributed version control offers exciting possibilities for open source or corporate developers: easier contribution by new developers, better merging and history tracking, more flexible development and releases, better availability and security.

However, distributed development can be disorienting at first, and in the longer term can make it hard to keep track of where the code is and where it's going. Will it cause excessive forking? Will important code be scattered to the winds? Where can I host my project?

Two of the authors of Bazaar, a leading new open source version control system, will talk about how to manage the social and technical aspects in the context of an open source project.
