Mono - Migrating from Windows to Linux
Many content providers and application developers use .Net and windows are their source of revenue. To engage with clients on other platforms such as Linux, many businesses would have to completely reengineer their current applications to Linux friendly development environments which might not be feasible. However, the migration of C# based applications to Linux is possible under the Mono framework. Mono is an open source implementation of Microsoft’s .Net framework which can be considered as a viable way of redeploying windows and web (asp.net) based applications to Linux. This presentation will thusly outline how to migrate both winforms and webform applications to Linux running Mono with demonstrations for both.
